www.briandolzani.com/wp Singer-songwriter Brian Dolzani crafts an impressive, intimate collection of personal stories on his new CD ‘If I Don’t Speak A Word’. With vocals that evoke early Neil Young, precise and often stinging lyrics, deceptively catchy melodies and a knack for building quietly painful anecdotes, Dolzani has delivered what might be described as a relationship album for those who’ve lost their voice along the way.

www.dizzybatsmusic.com Dizzy Bats’ front man, Connor Frost, never could kick his addiction to 90’s Pop Punk. Raised in the thicket of Westchester, NY by the sound of Billy Joe Armstrong’s nasal yelp, Frost’s childhood musical obsessions have sustained him into adulthood. It comes as no surprise that “Sundial”, Dizzy Bats’ debut record, presents thick layers of distortion balanced by the twang of acoustic guitar while walking basslines carry home driving drum beats. Frost isn’t content with merely paying an homage to a classic sound. Dizzy Bats boast an honest reflection on times past and transitions at hand. The power trio will live on.

soundcloud.com/grumpus-outfit Grumpus is the complex and brooding alter ego of Massachusetts native Graham Stevenson. Though Graham has been playing guitar, singing, and writing songs since before he learned potty language, it wasn’t until the fall of 2011 that Graham’s existential angst galvanized him into recording songs for people to hear. Thus, Grumpus, the dizzy-eyed, steel-pickin’ derelict, was born. Grumpus draws inspiration from the blues and other colors.

dylanconnor.com/the-epic-poets- The Epic Poets are on a mission to take audiences back to a time when Rock ‘n’ Roll music was still about bass, drums, and electric guitars. Forget about synthesizers, laptops, and cellos on the stage! Imagine the pop hooks of Weezer with the grooving guitar jams of the Black Crowes. In an Epic Poets set, you are likely to hear hints of the Who, The Ramones, Van Halen, The Rolling Stones, the Smiths, Pearl Jam, and David Bowie to name a few.

Paul Gabriel is a Electric Blues guitarist, Singer -Songwriter, recording session musician and an instructor. His professional career began in 1969 and has spanned forty three years as a working artist. Early in his career Paul Gabriel appeared on three albums by singer-songwriter Harry Chapin, played slide guitar on Rory Block’s Grammy nominated “Mama’s Blues”, toured with Michael Bolotin (a.k.a. Michael Bolton), and eventually formed a number of his own groups, most notably The Paul Gabriel Band and Blue In The Face. Blue In The Face recorded three highly acclaimed albums, the first receiving a four star review from DOWNBEAT Magazine.

In 2001 Paul Gabriel released his first solo album entitled FATE. This album is a transition recording in the sense that it is the first release featuring Paul Gabriel as a vocalist. Five years after it’s release it gained international attention. In September of 2006 Paul Gabriel and his Blues Band was formed. Further transforming into a complete artist, in 2007 Smoke Ring Records released two new CD’s featuring Paul Gabriel as a mature songwriter, vocalist and life-long artist. During 2008 -2012 the new CD’s garnered exellent reviews world wide as Paul Gabriel continues to perform his own brand of Blues, Jazz and American Music into 2013.

A new release, ‘Paul Gabriel’ -”What’s The Chance” – Produced by Duke Robillard – on Shining Stone Records will be available in 2013.

There’s something to be said for music that just makes you feel good. In a world where bands are constantly striving for inclusion in the “edgy” category, the Benjamin Cartel (which is both the band’s name and that of its singer, who uses a similar strategy for his other band, Kaiser Cartel) stands out as a testament to the effectiveness of catchy hooks, well-played guitar and spirited compositions. Cartel’s vocals demonstrate great nuance, oscillating between clear and lyrical musings to rougher grumbles. While the comparisons to Tom Petty and the Cure certainly are apt, this shouldn’t suggest the Benjamin Cartel are copycats. They take those big, mid-tempo beats and mix in alt and southern sounds. Even at their most emotional, the Benjamin Cartel just make you want to smile.

— Mitch Montoya

After earning a buzz as one of New York City’s up-and-coming songwriters, Benjamin Cartel put his solo career on hold in 2004, the year he co-founded the indie folk duo Kaiser Cartel. Years later, that band is still moving along… and Cartel’s solo career has earned a new set of wheels too, thanks to an EP that bridges the gap between Wilco’s wry rock & roll and John Lennon’s classic pop.

Money and Love is Cartel’s first solo release. Like the musical influences that spawned it, the EP is a mix of old and new. Several songs, like the vintage pop/rocker “No One,” were written before Kaiser Cartel’s formation. Others, like the rave-up title track, are newer compositions. “Julia,” one of the album’s harmony-drenched highlights, was written somewhere in the middle. Cartel looked everywhere for inspiration: relationships, the road, even old Alfred Hitchcock movies.

www.comictalesoftragicheartbreak.com This show has been going gangbusters all over New York City! Think 60’s Northern Soul, a little Burt Bacharach, a bit of Beat free association, a dash of Bowie and James Brown – and you have Comic Tales of Tragic Heartbreak.

This piano-driven, soul-influenced band features an incredible live show with crazy energy, outrageous humor, and unbelievable originality. Quite a combustible recipe.

“Lunacy? Spectacle? And music, too?” Rene Chun, New York Times

“The best show I’ve seen in months.” Dan Aquilante, New York Post

Comic Tales’ lead singer, songwriter, and trumpeter Robert Whaley previously fronted NYC rock legends, The Niagaras. With a penchant for interpretive dancing on tabletops and hilariously satirical rants on a broken childhood, Whaley electrified national audiences with appearances on Good Morning America, the Oxygen network, and Fox. The Niagaras were a hugely popular staple of the Manhattan scene for nearly two decades, attracting celebrities, controversy, and packed houses along the way.

Seeking a return to the R&B roots that got him into music in the first place, and informed by an almost pathological aversion to anything post-1974, Whaley joined forces with pianist and arranger Aaron Wyanski, industry veteran Michael “Miguelito” LaMorté (Mini-King, Grupo Miguelito) on bass, and longtime Niagaras drummer Dylan Wissing (Johnny Socko, Novel) to craft an organic, literate, deeply-grooving collection of semi-autobiographical songs.

Written in a tiny studio filled to bursting-with-20th Century literature, and inspired by a massive collection of obscure vinyl, Comic Tales of Tragic Heartbreak have managed to create a sound and a show which is both timeless and cutting-edge. The sweat-drenched performances along with the rapidly-disappearing ability to deeply engage and entertain a crowd really leave a lasting impression. Sounds like hype, until you experience it in person.
